Our Summer Conservation Corps Program provides an opportunity for youth from any school and with any skill level to enjoy the summer working outdoors. We focus to challenge their work ethic, expand their job skills, and allow for steady summer employment. This year we are proud to announce we have 16 positions available with our hand-tool crews and 1 position open as our Youth Corps Activities Assistant. All Douglas County residents are eligible for these positions.

Hand-Tool Crews (click here for the position description)

Recruiting 16 Positions, Compensation $9.50/hour (July 1, increase to $10.00/hour)

  • Crews comprised of eight youth, 16 to 24 years of age.
  • Spend six consecutive weeks of the summer working on activities ranging from trail enhancement to restoring habitat for wildlife. Activities focus primarily on hand-tool related tasks.
  • All crew members are eligible to earn elective credit towards their Oregon High School Diploma from Phoenix Charter School.
  • Crew members are required to have current CPR certification (on-site training available).

Youth Corps Activities Assistant (click here for the position description)

Recruiting 1 Position, Compensation $10.50/hour

  • Full-time employment for ten weeks of the summer.
  • Work with all crews in the field mentoring youth corps members via supporting program activities such as career exploration, data entry, plant pressing, report creation, and ecosystem surveys.
  • Supports tech crew activities via planning backcountry trips and improving related data entry processes.
  • Data entry will be the majority of activity past the field season ending August 3rd 2017.

Crew members are required to have current CPR certification (on-site training available).

Transportation each morning to Phoenix School, where crews reports daily, will not be provided and is the responsibility of every crew member.

  • Review the position description for eligibility requirements for the crews. Complete the job application.
  • Applications must be e-mailed to by Wednesday, May 17th.
  • Incomplete or late applications will not be fully considered and/or receive a lower score.
  • Applicants are encouraged to provide a resume and/or letter of recommendation.
  • We will contact you to schedule an interview. Interviews will be held the week of May 15th.
  • All applicants will be subject to drug screening at the time of interview.
  • Final crew rosters will be announced by Friday, June 2nd 2017.
