Greetings,

Our Summer Oregon Youth Corps Program provides an opportunity for youth from any school and with any skill level to enjoy the summer working outdoors. Our focus is to challenge their work ethic, expand their job skills, and allow for steady summer employment.All Douglas County residents are eligible for these positions. Operations are tentative based on county COVID-19 risk level.

 

Roseburg Based Hand-Tool Crew (click here for the position description)

Recruiting 12 positions, compensation of $12.00/hour.

  • Crews comprised of six youth, 16 to 24 years of age.
  • Spend six consecutive weeks of the summer working on activities ranging from trail enhancement to restoring habitat for wildlife. Activities focus on hand-tool projects.
  • Roseburg Based Hand-Tool Crews meets at Phoenix Charter School each morning, project sites vary throughout the Umpqua Basin on various public lands.
  • All crew members are eligible to earn elective credit towards their Oregon High School Diploma from Phoenix Charter School.
  • Crew members are required to have current CPR certification (on-site training available).


Tiller Based Hand-Tool Crew (click here for the position description)

Recruiting 5 positions, compensation of $12.00/hour.

  • Crew comprised of five youth, 16 to 24 years of age.
  • Spend six consecutive weeks of the summer working on activities ranging from trail enhancement to restoring habitat for wildlife. Activities focus on hand-tool projects.
  • Tiller Based Hand-Tool Crew meets at the Tiller Ranger District Office in Tiller, OR, project sites vary throughout the Tiller Ranger District on public lands.  
  • All crew members are eligible to earn elective credit towards their Oregon High School Diploma from Phoenix Charter School.
  • Crew members are required to have current CPR certification (on-site training available).


Roseburg Based Tech Crew (click here for the position description)

Recruiting 6 positions, compensation of $12.00/hour.

  • Crew comprised of six youth, 16 to 24 years of age.
  • Spend six consecutive weeks of the summer working on activities ranging from habitat restoration assessments, timber stand examinations, botanical surveys, and backcountry surveys. Activities include data collection with use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
  • Roseburg Based Tech Crew meets at Phoenix Charter School each morning, project sites vary throughout the Umpqua Basin on various public lands.
  • All crew members are eligible to earn elective credit towards their Oregon High School Diploma from Phoenix Charter School.
  • Crew members are required to have current CPR certification (on-site training available).


Roseburg Based Food & Farm Corps Crew (click here for the position description)

Recruiting 6 Positions, compensation of $12.00/hour.

  • Spend 10 consecutive weeks of the summer working on activities related to growing and harvesting produce in our school garden, orchard, greenhouse, and berry patch.
  • Roseburg based Food and Corps meets at Phoenix Charter School in Roseburg, OR.
  • All crew members are eligible to earn elective credit towards their Oregon High School Diploma from Phoenix Charter School.
  • Crew members are required to have current CPR certification (on-site training available).


Youth Corps Activities Assistant (click here for the position description)

Recruiting 1 positions, compensation of $12.00-$15.00/hour.  

  • Spend six consecutive weeks of the summer working alongside crew leaders and coordinators in the field mentoring youth corps via supporting program activities such as career exploration, team-building activities, camp supply inventory, data entry, reports, and native plant propagation.
  • Position is based at Phoenix Charter School in Roseburg, OR.
  • Assistants are required to have current CPR certification (on-site training available).


Food & Farm Activities Assistant (click here for the position description)

Recruiting 1 positions, compensation of $12.00-$15.00/hour.  

  • Spend 10 consecutive weeks of the summer working alongside the Food & Farm Crew Coordinator mentoring crew members. Activities include but are not limited to garden supply and inventory stocking, team-building activities, leading outdoor planting, tending, and harvesting projects with small groups, washing, and weighing produce.
  • Position is based at Phoenix Charter School in Roseburg, OR.
  • Assistants are required to have current CPR certification (on-site training available).
