Phoenix Agriculture Science Class Hatches Chickens
The Ag Science class is doing something new this year – hatching chickens. Science teacher Lindley Hession said the class has been learning about “phylogeny” this year. Territorial Seed Company Visits Phoenix School Garden
Students enrolled in the Phoenix School Learning Garden class had the opportunity to learn about seeds and how to preserve them from local seed and garden gurus from the Territorial Seed Company just up the road in Cottage Grove, Oregon. Territorial Seed staff traveled to our learning garden to teach students both dry and wet methods for seed saving. Phoenix Charter School is happy to welcome our first Dietetic Intern, Jennifer Wood, for a seven week rotation fall term. While here she’ll be focusing on nutrition education & learning about Phoenix’s food program. The Dietician Program is offered by Utah State University. Jennifer received her bachelor’s degree in Dietetics at San Francisco State University in 2014. Shortly after graduation she moved to Roseburg for a job as a WIC Nutrition Counselor. More…

Students in our Health Technology program held a blood donation drive with Lane Blood Center on December 2, 2016, collecting 31 life saving units of blood! Phoenix students have been holding blood drives for some time now, but this was the first time partnering with Lane Blood Center after learning that the majority of blood donations used at our local hospital come from Lane Blood Center.

Summer Tech Crew members will work with either the Umpqua National Forest or Roseburg BLM technicians completing various types of field surveys.
