Greetings,

Our Summer Conservation Corps Program provides an opportunity for youth from any school and with any skill level to enjoy the summer working outdoors. Our focus is to challenge their work ethic, expand their job skills, and allow for steady summer employment. All Douglas County residents are eligible for these positions.

 

Roseburg Based Hand-Tool Crew (click here for the position description)

Recruiting 8 positions, compensation of $10.50/hour (July 1, increase to $11.00/hour).

  • Crews comprised of eight youth, 16 to 24 years of age.
  • Spend six consecutive weeks of the summer working on activities ranging from trail enhancement to restoring habitat for wildlife. Activities focus primarily on hand-tool related tasks.
  • Roseburg Based Hand-Tool Crew meets at Phoenix Charter School each morning, project sites vary throughout the Umpqua Basin on various public lands.
  • All crew members are eligible to earn elective credit towards their Oregon High School Diploma from Phoenix Charter School.
  • Crew members are required to have current CPR certification (on-site training available).


Tiller Based Hand-Tool Crew (click here for the position description)

Recruiting 5 positions, compensation of $10.50/hour (July 1, increase to $11.00/hour).

  • Crews comprised of eight youth, 16 to 24 years of age.
  • Spend six consecutive weeks of the summer working on activities ranging from trail enhancement to restoring habitat for wildlife. Activities focus primarily on hand-tool related tasks.
  • Tiller Based Hand-Tool Crew meets at Tiller Ranger District Office in Tiller, OR, project sites vary throughout the Tiller Ranger District on public lands.  
  • All crew members are eligible to earn elective credit towards their Oregon High School Diploma from Phoenix Charter School.
  • Crew members are required to have current CPR certification (on-site training available).


Roseburg Based Tech Crew (click here for the position description)

Recruiting 6 positions, compensation of $10.50/hour (July 1, increase to $11.00/hour).

  • Crews comprised of six youth, 17 to 24 years of age.
  • Spend six consecutive weeks of the summer working on activities ranging from pre-restoration assessments, timber stand examinations, botanical surveys, and backcountry surveys. Activities include GIS related data collection techniques and overnight trips into USFS Wilderness Areas.
  • All crew members are eligible to earn elective credit towards their Oregon High School Diploma from Phoenix Charter School.
  • Crew members are required to have current CPR certification (on-site training available).


Roseburg Based Junior Hand-Tool Crews (click here for the position description)

Recruiting 8 Positions, $11.00/hour

  • Crew is comprised of eight youth, 14-16 years of age.
  • Spend two consecutive weeks of the summer working on activities ranging from trail enhancement to restoring habitat for wildlife. Activities focus primarily on hand-tool related tasks.
