Students in our Health Technology program held a blood donation drive with Lane Blood Center on December 2, 2016, collecting 31 life saving units of blood! Phoenix students have been holding blood drives for some time now, but this was the first time partnering with Lane Blood Center after learning that the majority of blood donations used at our local hospital come from Lane Blood Center. Students worked together with their teacher, Gabrielle Webster, and blood center staff to coordinate all of the logistics of the day long blood drive.
Lane Blood Center staff had these kudos to share with students after all of their hard work:
“ Good morning, CONGRATULATIONS, THANK YOU AND WOW–It is with great joy to share, Friday, December 2, we collected 31 (WOOHOO!) Lifesaving units from a presenting 39 Phoenix Charter School blood donors and registered 14 of them for the very first time too! Each unit of donated blood is broken, separated, componentized, and saves 3 lives–-this means that over 90 patients will be helped and benefit from your blood donations made at Phoenix Charter School in Roseburg. GO TEAM!”
Make sure to check back here for information on future blood drives.
